My personal opinion is that the idea of "teach them who’s boss to get them to behave" does not work! Ive heard it so many times "Always eat before your dog and go through doorways first because that’s what a dominant dog would do.” “If your dog growls or barks inappropriately or otherwise misbehaves, put him in his place by doing an alpha roll where you force him onto his back until he submits. That way you can be the boss.” I just am not a fan of this method! In my experience it seems that it is unnecessary and doesn't have the results that positive/rewards training does. Where you reinforce the desirable behaviors immediately (give dog a treat, pet/praise etc.) as they occur and remove reinforcers for undesirable behaviors. Tell me what you think!
